So I binge watched and binge played everything so-called 'canon' Alien out there, and this is my conclusion:

"A few minutes is all you need to appreciate the little things in life."

100% Trippin' ballz

That's what went through my head when checking out the opening to Mob Psycho 100.

Go on, admit it.

You're intrigued, right?

Who doesn't.

Don't worry, the pilot isn't your standard anime binge-bait that's followed up by a sluggish season.

Go watch it. I'll hold.

And yes, you're right.

It IS by the same guy as One Punch Man.

Animated music videos? OBJECTION!

I particularly like how they take 4 minutes to tell a better story than all seasons of Scooby Doo combined.

To the beat y'all.

Oh and look there's a sequel. Another musical series to keep your eyes and ears on!

Also, big up to their Phoenix Wright spoof. Gotta love that intro .

How I met your mother

As you might have realised by now, I don't only write about video games, but about related media as well, such as movies, series, comics, etc.
I usually try to link these media items with a game, just for the sake of it, but sometimes I don't.

This is one of those times I didn't.

What's that on his shou...OHMYGODKILLITWITHFIRE

Wasurenagumo, or Li'l Spider Girl if you want, is not one of those 5 to 10 minutes shorts, showing off a powerful message combined with a stroke of fine art.
No, it's about 23 minutes long, the art doesn't come off as particularly fresh or innovating, and the characters seem to follow the standard tropes at first glance.

But it's worth a watch, if not for the bizarre - and for some, frightening - concept of A FRIGGIN' LITTLE SPIDER GIRL, then for the twists and turns it takes to reach its conclusion. You won't regret it.

Part of the Young Animator Training Project, of which Little Witch Academia by Trigger is probably the most famous, Wasurenagumo is one of four shorts in the 2012 line-up and made by Production I.G., which we covered a bit in our All of the insanity in anime today piece.

The giggles are strong with this one.

This is what happens when you put people from Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and The Clone Wars in the same room.
Delightful, utter nonsense about the universe's oldest sci-fi epic.

Unfortunately, the series was cancelled before it even aired, but not after 39 episodes were already produced, with 62 more in the running.
Frankly, I do understand the reasoning behind it, and why this is the most sensible choice for now: You can't bombard the newer generations of cinephiles with parodies of movies and shows they were never cordially introduced to.

So let's just patiently sit here until the next Star Wars trilogy and its spinoffs have been churned out, before diving headlong into this by-then finely aged wine of a series.
Fingers crossed.

All of the insanity in anime today

That's a title made for Hiroyuki Imaishi, who had a hand in the crazy that was Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, and Kill la Kill.

If you like non-stop action, over-the-top - that's without the twists - plot devices, and a buttload of fanservice and mechas, you'd be wise to spot this name from afar.

Get his autograph. Just do it.

Remember that thing I posted about Furi and its awesome synthwave tunes? Let's focus on one of the artists from that soundtrack, and go from there.

Carpenter Brut, the mythical French synthwave artist, not only has his music featured on The Crew, Hotline Miami 2, Hacknetand Furi, but he gets the raddest music videos as well, courtesy of Seth Ickerman.

Watching the 'Making Of' is at least as fun as the original video itself, and yes, a 30-minute long movie is in the works, with Carpenter Brut on board.

Less than meets the eye

I recently watched one of the latest episodes of Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) - not to be confused with the Japanese-made series of the same name from 2001 - and was unpleasantly surprised how little advancement was made in terms of the gray area between good and evil.

As long as the human element gives us the thumbs up.

Worse, what I saw was pretty mind-bogglingly backwards.

Pixar movies are, for all intents and purposes, fun.

Their formula stays pretty much the same in every movie, Hollywood-style, but we're not looking for much more than that either.
A laugh, a tear, and a lot of stuff we can relate to, in an exaggerated, animated manner.

Or spot on accurate.

I saw an okay movie the other day... - [soundbyte i]

...and It Follows  that music composer Disasterpeace is awesome.

He's got a knack for providing your daily horror dose through eerie music and psychedelic sound effects, as well as making sure certain mobile, flash and indie games become more iconic than the sum of their parts. And even if you care nothing about movie or game scores, I'm sure everyone can find a tune to their liking in his evergrowing repertoire.

If you're not convinced, at least hear him out in Bandcamp's latest interview right here which came out right after I saw It Follows and when I wanted to do a [soundbyte i] piece as well as write something about Disasterpeace...Hmm...Paranoid much? Who's that behind me?

I'll leave you with one of his latest creations. Enjoy.

Or 4KidsEntertainment, Cartoon Network, or whatever caters to millennials with short attention spans, lots of love for the new chibi 3D trend, and a strong penchant for cutesy PG anime.

The anime however, might be worth a shot. Were I 20 years younger.

Independence Fail - Regurgitation

Rejoice, fellow shroomers!

Somewhere in the multiverse there exists a KICK ASS video game of Independence Day!

How do I know?

Simple. Every game-to-movie adaption known to man has sucked all kinds of ass, and this inversely proportionate to the source material.
Resurgence is such an affront to humankind that we're well due an annihilation or two, so there MUST BE a ridiculously epic video game circulating about, with actual plot, meaningful action, sincere drama, funny one liners, lovable characters, total lack of cliché...

The thought of this is already melting my brain.
